I do work from home in RL, which I love. I adore my little home office, but I would totally exchange it for this SL office in a heartbeat. ♥

The desk and shelves are new from Sho Kenin and Standby, available at Collabor88 this month. I'm a big fan of everything Sho makes, and this set makes me happy. Great industrial styling, really fun accessories, and excellent construction. You need this.

I love committing to a theme. This room is a mash-up of two sets available now at FaMESHed: you've got a super cute bedroom from Tegan Serin and floorplan., and then there's a  classic office from fri.home, which is a collaboration between Tegan and Darling Monday of fri.day. You know what I love best about their collaboration -- aside from the awesome furniture? The fact that floorplan. stuff and fri.home stuff goes so well together - it's like a megastore that just happens to be split between two locations. Or some other analogy that is more profound. Your choice.

I desperately want a shabby old card catalog in RL. 3-d printer, anyone?

I love the books-as-headboard idea - from a distance, it looks sorta artsy and geometric, and it's only up close that you realize 'oh hey - books!". I like that. And I predict that little book on the nightstand, the one with the pages formed into a heart, is going to become one of my favorite decorating accents. Love.

There's a new study available from Froukje Hoorenbeek and Dutchie. Studying has never been more fun. Winkyface!

Let's focus first on the furniture itself. It's gorgeous. Focus on that. Froukje has created a beautiful classic library with great detail. The fireplace is awesome, and the leather club chairs are just perfect! There are 2 versions of the chair -- a male and a female -- and I've featured the female chair in this post. Both are lovely; the female has a lighter texture and is a little bit softer in design. The leather texture on both chairs is wonderful, though. ♥

blog 1

Does anyone else lovelovelove that we can now have REAL bookshelves with REAL books, thanks to mesh? Remember the days when a full bookshelf like this would have just been a photo texture of lots of books, without the lovely depth and detail of individual items? TAKE THAT, 2006! These shelves are full of gorgeous books, and are still only 4 prims per bookcase. Yessssssss.

Okay, so speaking of fun and winkyfaces...Froukje has also added her signature touch to this set with a TON of ohmygoodnesswhat animations. I'm too shy to show you the anims in action -- of course -- but check out just some of the menus.

blog 2

And there's more. OH THERE'S MORE.

Check it out at Dutchie! Take a friend. WINKYFACE.

New events, new stuff. I'm for it.

At The Men's Dept. (which I think started today...or starts tomorrow...don't quote me), Tegan Serin has some cute accessories from floorplan. - the Honest Abe Lamp and the Photo Hanger. (The red lamp is the Barbara Ann Lamp, also from floorplan. but I don't believe it's part of The Men's Dept.)

From Kaz Nayar and PILOT, the Dellinger Desk.

Comes in an adult version, too. WINK WINK.

And from Cory Edo of Trompe Loeil - the Morning Light Bathtub - perfect for relaxing after a long day at the drafting table.

Home Expo 2012 is here!

Fourteen sims -- approximately 85478415 designers (that's an estimate) -- and a great opportunity to raise lots of Lindens to benefit Relay For Life!! The Expo runs today through May 28, so make sure to get over there quick so you have plenty of time to explore everything!! I'll be sharing my favorites with you over the next week, so please do check back often. Right now, though, let me show ya what I made for Expo!!!

It's like an office to go. Introducing the Janie Office Nook:

The pink version is a RFL item, which means 100% of its sales go to Relay!

Wanna feel like you've traveled around the world, without ever leaving the comfort of your living room? Then the Travel Chairs are for you!!

The Cape Cod chair is also a RFL donation item!

And finally, somewhere to keep all the records of your generous Relay For Life donations -- the Grand Old Desk!

All of these new items are available only at Home Expo right now!!

I had a chance to catch up with Maxwell Graf of Rustica last week, which is always nice. :) He asked me to come by and pick out my own set of his new release, the Shaded Set. I chose the Tiger Maple finish, which is just one of, like, A MILLION (or fifteen) different wood options that are available. The entire Shaded Set is very traditional and craftsman-inspired, with clean lines. There are a ton of pieces in the set - you can cover the bedroom, living room, office, dining room, and even the foyer. What's really exciting is that this new line also comes with ...[dramatic music]...a HUD for upholstery texture changes! It's pretty cool.

Here are a few of the bedroom pieces, straight out of the box:

Pretty nice! But wait -- I attach my HUD:

...and ta da! A plethora of texture options is now available to me! The tab I'm showing above gives the actual textures; there's also a 'Colors' tab that gives you...wait for it...different color options. So, you can recolor your textures...or go with the plain textures and mix up the colors...lots and lots of possibilities! I played around with a few options:

Cute! I like being able to mix and match bedding, and you can do that sort of mixing/matching with all the upholstered pieces in the collection. I really think the HUD is an awesome way to go - you just click the item you want to change, it shows you that it's ready to be edited, and then you can click away with the HUD until you get the look you want. The bed is a little tricky, since there are multiple layers of bedding, but it's fun to play around with. I like the range of textures that Max has included, especially all the leathers. Being the picky texture gal that I am, though, some of the textures are a bit too photo-realistic for my taste, and/or don't quite work with some of the pieces at a 1x1 repeat. Still, there are so many options to choose from, I definitely found looks that I like!

A few of the living room pieces, too:

I LOVE a hall tree, so I'm super glad that Max included that in the collection! Like I said at the start of the post, this collection is VAST, so I definitely want you all to go check it out. The pieces are also complete with lots of fun animations - Max really packed a ton of great details in there! What's even more impressive is that all these pieces are super low prim! All 24 pieces in the set, all together, only total 73 prims. THAT is amazing.

See it all at Rustica! [SLurl]

Mainit Hellman of Baustein recently released the Morales Desk set and was kind enough to send me a copy to check out. This is a nice basic set, and I like that it's a bit more masculine than the majority of SL furniture. This set could totally work for a girl, too, of course - it's just nice that it's not girly. Our poor boys have a time of it, don't they?

I like the snowboard rack - that's a great accessory for all sorts of rooms. I do wish it included a wall shadow for a bit more depth, but it's totally awesome otherwise. The chair includes a few different animations, and the newspaper and mug of cocoa are nice "real life" touches.

Emilie Freund of NOTsoBAD sent me a few new sets over the past few weeks (I'm still catching up!). I always get excited for new NsB releases - big, small, simple, complex - they're always a great final product.

Flanelle Desk Set- here's a nice basic office set - desk, chairs, computer, and accessories. The chairs are color-change...to, like, a zillion different colors...and include a really nice selection of sit animations. The desk top is texture-change, too. I love the blueprints all rolled up on the desk, and that lamp is awesome!

Also new(ish) from NOTsoBAD is the Divo table set. The stools are color-changeable...again with a zillion color choices (give or take). The side table is one of those staples that I love having around - great in a foyer, or up against the back of a couch, or in a hallway...and perfect for holding all sorts of accessories, both decorative and utilitarian. What's really awesome about this set is the shadows that are included -- I do not have shadows enabled for these pics - what you see is exactly what you get with the items themselves. It gives such great depth!
